Sophie-Anne Barry

About

Sophie-Anne is a solicitor in the Crown Specialist Group. She assists with a wide range of criminal matters and High Court proceedings and regularly appears in the District Court. She has recently contributed to the Commercial Regulatory Team's Investigation into potential anti-competitive practices under the Commerce Act 1986.

Before joining MC, Sophie-Anne gained valuable experience through two legal internships with NGOs in Sydney. There, she supported the relocation of refugees and asylum seekers to Australia, and advocated for the rights of individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

While studying at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha - University of Canterbury, Sophie-Anne worked as a volunteer legal caseworker, and as a conversation assistant for recent immigrants and refugees.
