About

Daniel is an experienced litigator who advises government agencies, regulators and corporate clients on complex commercial and regulatory disputes. He specialises in competition and consumer matters, regulatory investigations, and high-profile enforcement proceedings.

Daniel has acted for public sector agencies including the Commerce Commission, Ministry of Education, WorkSafe and the Financial Markets Authority. His work includes advising on investigations, preparing and conducting litigation, and appearing in court across a wide range of civil and criminal matters.

Prior to returning to New Zealand in 2026, Daniel worked in London for three years as a specialist competition litigator. During this time, he acted on major follow-on damages claims and class actions, including the Merricks collective proceedings, one of the largest and most significant competition law cases in UK legal history.


He is known for his clear, practical advice, strong advocacy skills, and ability to manage complex matters involving multiple stakeholders and significant public interest.

Recent Cases & Achievements

Acted on WorkSafe’s prosecutions arising from the 2019 Whakaari / White Island eruption.

Acted on the Commerce Commission’s enforcement proceedings against Moola and Pretty Penny for breaches of the lender responsibility principles.

Acted on the Ministry of Education’s product liability proceedings against Carter Holt.
