Simon has experience across a wide range of commercial transactions and contracts, with particular expertise in property development projects for public and private sector clients.
He provides advice at all stages of a project, from procurement and negotiation of initial terms through to drafting the full suite of project documents. He also advises clients on day-to-day commercial/contracting issues.
Prior to joining Meredith Connell, Simon worked at a commercial practice in Wellington before working in-house at a multi-national financial service provider in London.
In addition to his work in the New Zealand context, Simon has advised on development projects in the UK and the USA.
Advising a national retailer on a $200m+ mixed use development in Tauranga’s CBD, including project planning and co-ordination, construction and consultant contracting, and advice on various property issues and arrangements.
Advising a local authority on the development of strategic sites for civic, commercial and infrastructure purposes, including advising on the collaborative development of a Hot Pools facility and marina under long-term lease arrangements.
Advising a listed retirement village developer/operator on all aspects of its construction programme.
Advising a Crown Research Institute on its corporate, commercial and property matters, including the redevelopment of major office and research facility sites in Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, as well as its day-to-day commercial contracting requirements.
