Milan undertakes criminal prosecutions on behalf of the Crown and acts for professional disciplinary regulators before various tribunals. Milan has also acted for the Commissioner of Police, the Department of Corrections, and the New Zealand Customs Service, and has provided advice to the Police and other government agencies.

Milan began his career clerking for Justice Doogue in her capacity as Chief District Court Judge, and following her appointment to the High Court. Before joining MC, Milan prosecuted serious crime on behalf of the Crown Solicitor at Manukau, in the Manukau District Court and Auckland High Court. He has also appeared on appeals before the High Court and Court of Appeal.

R v Akash

  • Appeared as junior counsel in the prosecution of a defendant charged with the murder of his partner, and who advanced the defence of insanity.

R v Iongi & Ors

  • Appeared as junior counsel in the prosecution of three defendants charged with murder and other firearms-related offending.

De Lange v Police [2021] NZHC 476, [2021] 3 NZLR 1

  • Appeared as counsel for the Police in an appeal against registration on the Child Sex Offender Register. The issue on appeal was whether unproven allegations and prior acquittals are relevant to the discretionary registration exercise.
