Michael Blakeley


Michael is a solicitor in the commercial litigation team. His role involves assisting with civil proceedings for a range of government and private sector clients. He also acts for the Crown in criminal proceedings.

Upon completion of his university studies in 2019, Michael received the AUT International Scholarship and completed an internship with a corporate and institutional bank in London. Post internship, he joined a law firm in Brighton, working as a paralegal in the company and commercial team.

In 2021, Michael returned to New Zealand to complete his professional legal studies. Alongside his studies he worked as a litigation law clerk at an East Auckland law firm, assisting with District Court and High Court matters.

  • In 2020 Michael was involved in providing assistance with a 14m GBP acquisition in which an LSE Listed company acquired a competitor firm.
  • Michael wrote his Honours dissertation on the UN Charter and the extent to which international law should support diffusion of sovereignty.
