Melanie is a senior solicitor in the litigation team in Wellington. She has experience in local government and resource management law, advising local authorities and private clients on a wide range of matters including consenting and planning issues.
Melanie also has experience in regulatory and professional discipline law gained during her time working in London at a professional body, where she managed professional misconduct cases relating to students and chartered management accountants.
Prior to joining Meredith Connell, Melanie worked in the local government and environment team at a large commercial firm in Wellington before working at a regulatory body in the United Kingdom.
- Managing disciplinary proceedings against more than 80 students involved in the sharing of confidential examination information via a social media group during an exam period.
- Acting for Christchurch City Council in respect of the proposed replacement district plan for Christchurch following the Canterbury earthquakes, including appearing as junior counsel on several hearings before the Independent Hearings Panel.
