Senior Solicitor

Lydia is a senior solicitor in Meredith Connell’s Crown Specialist team.  Lydia has prosecuted a range of criminal matters and regularly appears in the District Court and High Court, conducting pre-trial, trial and appellate work.

Since joining Meredith Connell from the litigation group of a large commercial law firm, Lydia has regularly worked on civil proceedings brought under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.  She also provides advice to the Financial Markets Authority, the Police, and other government agencies.

  • Acting for the Financial Markets Authority in its first case brought under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (Financial Markets Authority v CLSA Premium New Zealand Limited).
  • Criminal proceedings including R v Hutton, concerning an attempt to traffic a child for sexual exploitation.
  • R v Sea World Limited & Ors, the largest case brought under the Fisheries Act 1996 for dealing fish in breach of the Quota Management System.
