Linda (Hong) Hui


Linda is an Associate in the Regulatory and Insolvency team.  She acts for private liquidators and the Official Assignee in legal proceedings relating to corporate and personal insolvency and for private clients in relation to general civil matters.

Prior to joining Meredith Connell, Linda was a solicitor in the insurance team at a large commercial firm, where she provided advice and acted on material damage and business interruption claims, liability claims and subrogated recovery.  Previous to that she was a junior barrister doing general commercial and civil litigation.

  • Acted for insurers in large scale subrogated recovery proceedings relating to the Port Hills fires.
  • Acted for insurers in the High Court and Court of Appeal in relation to various legal issues arising out of the Canterbury Earthquake Sequence (eg Doig v Tower Insurance Limited [2018] 2 NZLR 677).
  • Acted in Court of Appeal and Supreme Court proceedings on the interpretation of s 87 of the Judicature Act 1908 (Worldwide NZ LLC v NZ Venue and Event Management Ltd [2015] 1 NZLR 1).
