Kate advises and represents the Commissioner of Police in respect of civil proceedings brought in the High Court to restrain and forfeit the proceeds of crime.
She also regularly appears in the District Court on a range of criminal proceedings on behalf of the Crown and the New Zealand Police.
Before joining Meredith Connell in 2014, Kate spent two years working in the environment and planning team of another top-tier law firm, where she advised a range of clients in relation to consenting, planning and environmental dispute resolution issues, and assisted with due-diligence exercises for major acquisitions and divestments.
Advised and assisted with proceedings brought by the Commissioner of Police for restraining orders over a range of high-value assets associated with seven respondents facing serious drug-related charges.
Advised the Commissioner of Police in respect of judicial review proceedings.
Advised a government department on the objective of enhancing the availability of land for housing, and its relationship with the Resource Management Act 1991, culminating in the passing of the Housing Accords and Special Housing Areas Act 2013.
