Holly Smaill


Holly is a solicitor in MC's public law and regulatory team. She assists with professional disciplinary prosecutions, including prosecutions before the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal, the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal, the New Zealand Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal, and the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board. Holly also assists as a junior prosecutor on various Crown prosecution matters.

Before joining MC, Holly worked for a large commercial law firm specialising in commercial, corporate and regulatory advice before completing a Masters of International Relations.

  • Collaborated on large multiparty commercial project for the procurement of a national ticketing solution for all forms of public transport. 
  • Collaborated on a number of high value M&A transactions for both New Zealand and international clients.
  • Master of International Relations thesis concerned the rise of populist nationalism in mature democracies around the globe and the potential impacts on global cooperation. Honours dissertation in law discussed how gendered assumptions influence judicial interpretation of sexual “consent” in the context of a pre-existing sexual relationship.
