Hershla has more than a decade's experience in complex civil litigation. Her practice at Meredith Connell involves a broad range of civil and criminal litigation, including medico-legal proceedings of all types (including inquests), applications for judicial review, regulatory criminal and civil fraud proceedings, and the recovery of fraudulently obtained funds through the High Court.

She has particular expertise in medical negligence claims and advising clients on sensitive medico-legal issues, privacy law and requests under the Official Information Act, complex health funding issues, and the enforcement of local-government legislation.

Successfully defended the Ministry of Health's issue and execution of a search warrant at a medical practice (Gill v Attorney-General & Ors).

Successfully prosecuted Chrisco Hampers Ltd for breaches of the Fair Trading Act. (Commerce Commission v Chrisco Hampers Ltd).

Acted as co-counsel in High Court (and District Court) proceedings resulting in the removal of “Occupy Auckland” protesters from Aotea Square (Wadsworth v Auckland Council).
