About

Erin has practised employment law in Aotearoa New Zealand and New South Wales for over 25 years, many of which as a specialist employment partner.  Erin is an experienced litigator, mediator and negotiator. She is also a qualified AWI-CH workplace investigator, is a member of the Sport and Recreation Complaints and Mediation Service Panel and sits on the Board of Trustees of one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest public schools. 

Erin leads a team of specialist employment lawyers at MC, which means clients receive informed, expert, efficient service delivery on a broad spectrum of workplace-related matters through the full employment life-cycle, always navigating the best outcomes for clients as issues arise.

Recent Cases & Achievements

Appeared in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court in relation to PG’s, employee fraud and corporate recovery, non-competition/injunction proceedings, section 6 and controlling 3rd party claims.

Advised on organisational restructuring, including advising on staff transition issues.

Provided advice on conflict of interest issues, OIA and Privacy Act requests.

Managed employment claims for one of Australasia’s largest insurance and reinsurance groups.

Acted in the transmission of business issues arising from mergers and acquisitions of numerous commercial businesses, including undertaking due diligence and transferring employees.

Drafted/updated employment agreements, contracts for services, staff policies and procedures, and ensuring all such documentation complies with relevant legislation, including the Employment Relations Act 2000, Holidays Act 2004, Health and Safety at Work Act 2020, Privacy Act 2020 and Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987.

Advised on processes for performance management, disciplinary matters, prolonged sick leave/medical retirement, restructures and redundancies, both at a policy level and on a case-by case basis.

Advised on in-house immigration processes in respect of prospective employees.
