Emma Smith


Emma was admitted to the bar in 2015 and joined MC in 2017.  Prior to that she spent two years as a Judge’s Clerk at the Court of Appeal where she worked on a variety of civil and criminal matters, with a particular focus on pre- and post-trial criminal appeals and name suppression.  In 2017 Emma co-authored commentary for McGechan on Procedure on the new Senior Courts Act 2016.

Appear for the Crown on criminal matters such as sentencing and bail.

Assist in advising and preparing prosecutions for regulatory bodies and government departments such as the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
