Daniel specialises in commercial, regulatory and criminal litigation. He has appeared as sole counsel in the District Court and High Court and as junior counsel in the Court of Appeal.
Daniel has advised private and public-sector clients on matters involving construction, leases, defective products, regulatory compliance, health and safety, and Official Information Act requests.
Before joining Meredith Connell, Daniel spent two years as a judges’ clerk at the Auckland High Court and one year specialising in regulatory, construction and insurance disputes at a large commercial law firm. Throughout this time he was also a contract law tutor at the University of Auckland.
In 2017 Daniel represented the University of Auckland at the Sarin Leiden Air Law Moot Court Competition. He also co-authored the LexisNexis text Employment Law Made Easy.
- Before joining MC, appeared as junior counsel and drafted submissions seeking an interim injunction preventing the ongoing use of a trademark following the divestment of a business (Winc Australia Pty Ltd v NXP Holdings Ltd  NZHC 2682).
- Appeared as junior counsel and drafted submissions on an appeal to the Court of Appeal regarding severance of criminal charges and the admissibility of evidence (T v R  NZCA 263).
- Advising and drafting submissions for the Commerce Commission in high profile claims, including those against Moola, Pretty Penny, Lodge Real Estate, Monarch Real Estate, and Specialised Container Services.
