
Alec Dawson
Senior Solicitor
Alec is a Senior Solicitor in the Resource Management team in Auckland. He provides resource management advice and assists with regulatory prosecutions. Alec also works for the Crown in criminal proceedings.
Before joining MC, Alec worked as a campaigner for an Environmental NGO (the Environmental Investigation Agency) in London, specialising in monitoring and exposing the illegal timber trade. He has also previously worked in Aotearoa as a Judges’ Clerk in the New Zealand Supreme Court and at the New Zealand Law Commission. He graduated with an LLM in Environmental and Energy Law from New York University in 2018.
Alec's thesis at New York University was entitled the Clean Power Plan Repeal and the Unalterably Closed Mind Test, exploring the relationship between environmental regulations and the law on biased decision-making.
